The term feminism refers to the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. In the social world of Jane Austen ' s Pride and Prejudice women are reduced to commodities for marriage since there were few to no opportunities of independence. As for Elizabeth Bennet she is a young women who seeks gender equality and disagrees with the societies belief that women need to be acquiescent to men.
