This source expresses certain issues that Jake Akins noticed that schools have been lacking. They pointed out that due to the time we are in where technology is used every second, it has been noticed that the children in this generation are being known as the silent generation because all they do is text instead of speaking and schools demand them to speak but schools don’t teach them,the students, methods of speech. As a child, he claims that he came to school unable to read or write, the teachers made it as a goal for the 3-5year olds to know how to read and have good “penmanship.” Now, when he looks at schools, he says that “schools are little more than prisons” because teachers aren’t doing their jobs of teaching the students because all they are focused on is having them pass the upcoming quizzes. Not many students today are as successful as for those back in the 60s, who were determined to achieve that well-earned grade. Each of these nation have a similar specific goal, which is teaching their students more of the world and help them figure out what they are special in. In China, they have decided to cut off complex math topics for the children and bring them more into science, by encouraging them to study and be invested in “ real-world applications”.
