Due to the significant impact the loss of mobility would have on the patient's independence and because there is no legal requirement and no snellen acuity requirement is listed for mobility scooter driving I would in this situation advise the patient to have a friend or family member measure 12.3m outside and then satisfy themselves that they can reach the recommended standard and if they cannot then they should seriously consider ceasing the use of the mobility scooter.
