With different actions and approaches, the United States appears to be a more protected nation. With all of the changes within the United States, the most evident change is the security in airports. The precautions that are taken when entering an airport have dramatically changed since 9/11. Nearly two months after the attacks, Jason Villemez writes, “Congress federalized airport security by passing the Aviation and Transportation Security Act, which created the Transportation Security Administration.” Jason explains how Congress passed an Act that made every airport in America to have the same security processes. Before making airport security a nationwide requirement, each airport handled their own security, which “outsourced to private security companies” (Villemez). From the removal of first-class curtains to the fortified cockpit doors, airplanes were dramatically revised. Along with the changes in the airplanes came the change in the staff working on them. Within the staff, airplanes introduced the job that said, “Pilots can now apply to become a federal flight deck officer, allowing them to carry a loaded gun and act as a federal officer aboard the plane” (Villemez). Now, people are allowed to apply for a job that is essentially the same as a policeman, but on a plane. Many different changes in government happened after 9/11, but the most memorable one was the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act consisted of “342 pages and many member of Congress say they did not even read it before voting in favor” (Department of Government and Justice Studies). Within the government, the television and music industries became censored. Multiple movies regarding the attacks had to be cancelled. Also, within the college education sector, the “fastest growing area of study is domestic security” (History.com). Domestic security is the study of how to keep a society safe. After the attack on the World Trade Center, many college students felt the need to protects the United States from future attacks. Many college students were now studying Domestic Security. Without this event, the protection of the United States would be substantially subpar. Noticeably, the cameras outside of airports, in airports, in shops, and almost everywhere we go, have significantly increased. With cameras almost everywhere, this provides a “less stress” feeling. The less that people have to worry about themselves, the more focused as a society the United States will
