After spending some time with the Indians, Tobias learned that he has to let his cattle go and graze in certain seasons. If he does not allow this process to happen, his cattle will die. Tobias is always respectful to the animals that live in his surrounding areas. He is able to utilize everything in his surrounding areas. Tobias has been through various areas, and no matter what the region may be, he knew what animals thrived there and how to take care of the animals that lived there with him. He knew that in the shrub there is always rattle snakes in the pine ridges. Without that knowledge these snakes could impose a serious danger to not only Tobias, but to his son as well. Principle 15 of the earth charter states that you must ” Protect wild animals from methods of hunting, trapping, and fishing that cause extreme, prolonged, or avoidable suffering” Tobias always took what he needed, he was never wasteful when hunting. He will use all the meat to provide for his family, and then will skin the animal, later to sell it, so every part of the animal would be used for a good purpose.
