Abe Bos: A Heavenly Father

While speaking with my senior mentor, Abe Bos, it was hard to not be amazed at everything that he has accomplished and been through in his life. He has travelled, loved, lost, and created a beautiful family. He credits all of his accomplishments to God and has lived his life to glorify our Heavenly Father. Abe was born in 1932 in New Jersey. He was the second of three children born in his family. His mother was a stay at home mom and his father was a teacher and a principle. Abe enjoyed spending time with his family and looks back fondly at the many stories he has of them. He lived in New Jersey for the first 12 years of his life and enjoyed the area very much. The town where he lived was very close to a quarry. When he walked to the edge of the quarry, he was able to see New York City off in the distance twenty miles away. His father took his family to New York City multiple times throughout his childhood to see what the city had to offer. While there, they rode in taxis and double decker buses, visited the botanicals and the zoo, and attended a few Major League Baseball games. The most …show more content…
American troops were being sent overseas to help rebuild Europe and to continue keeping the peace. Abe’s division was sent to Germany. He had many experiences here that changed his life. His division worked closely with the German youth and were often invited into German homes. The troops tried to show the German people that they weren’t the enemy anymore. Abe bonded with one specific German boy and was fascinated at his desire to learn new languages. This boy had already read the Iliad and the Odyssey in both the original Greek language and the German version. He wanted to read them in English, so Abe gave him copies to read. The amount of destruction and despair throughout Europe left many speechless. Abe also had the opportunity to visit a concentration camp while he was
