Acting Career Path

Decent Essays
Success is given to those with traits of persistence, dedication, and passion. Believing in this, I have dedicated my life to not settling for mediocre. I want to take my talents as far as they can take me and become a Broadway actor. For years I have grown in my passion for theatre and music. I believe that with enough drive, I can be the Broadway actor I've always aspired to be. This being so, I'm attending William Peace University in order to receive a B.F.A in Musical Theatre. This journey will resemble a roller coaster, having many ups and downs, but hopefully this roller coaster will lead me to a professional acting career. My dreams may seem unrealistic, but with enough hard work, they will be as realistic as any other career

In my opinion, my desire to be a state thespian officer could be summarized by my childhood girl scout troop’s mantra which was “Wherever you go make it a better place when you leave”. The arts programs over the course of my entire public education have served me well and continues to. This love for theatre has stemmed all the way from 1st grade Annie with my debut role of Kate the orphan to now an over 50 cast of Beauty and the Beast. I believe that the best way I can repay this debt back and make theatre a better place is through being a state thespian officer. Without theatre, I truly don’t know who I would be and I would like to do my best to not only improve arts programs across the state but, also bring the arts to those less fortunate improving theatre for all from when I first entered it all those years ago.…

We’ve all heard the quotes about success: “Successful people don’t become that way overnight,” “your true success in life begins only when you make the commitment to become excellent at what you do,” “what separates the talented ones from the successful ones is a lot of hard work,” but which ones should we believe? There must be a happy medium; a universal definition for success. Grit, a novel written by Angela Duckworth, defines success as something we must obtain through a “never give up” attitude. She values motivation over a natural talent, because those with the motivation are more often successful compared to those with talents, who may not strive to improve on their innate abilities. You must fulfill your potential, or else it is a waste of talent and you will never be as successful as you could be.…

I loved film, theater, and television because it let people escape for a moment into a fictional world. As an actress, you could be someone else. But on the flip side, I’ve since learned that actors are really not supposed to be trying to act--they should be trying to portray real life. When I was in high school, I got involved in the theater program, but I didn’t think it could be a real career. So I went off to the university and pursued a degree in marketing and…

There is a moment for everyone where they realize their goals and aspirations. Once they do, nothing will stop that person from achieving their goals. For me, my whole life has led up to me pursuing a filmmaking career, and nothing is going to stop me. Film is one of many influences that made me the man I am today. In my pursuit to becoming a filmmaker, I have been blessed with friends that shared similar interest in filmmaking, opportunities to work on independent film productions as well as other short film documentaries, and motivations to be a smarter and better person.…

My hope is that I am able to continue dancing and acting for the rest of my life and because of this I am eager to take in as much as I can. Because of these particular goals I have set out to spend as much time as possible in rehearsal halls and dance studios. This year especially has been me balancing dance classes every night, performing in The WIZ at First Stage children’s theater, and take acting classes every weekend at First Stage all while keeping just over a 4.0 GPA. Summers are not typically a break for me either. If I’m not taking a company acting class you can probably find me interning at First stage trying to earn credits for future classes.…

What does theatre mean to me? As I review the questions provided for me to include in my goal statement, I feel lucky to express how theatre is unique to me and how I structure my everyday life around the dramatic arts. Anytime I act, I relish in the opportunity to be a leader, to help people, and to accomplish my actions with confidence. I started off with this philosophy at an early age and have not forgotten about it since. In my opinion, acting is not solely about the individual’s performance, but about how an individual actor can use their confidence and passion to impact other actors, enhance a production, and inspire the audience.…

Mississippi is a place filled with characters that always seem to find the most convenient path. My home-state has a mindset of hospitality, shown through our Saturday Tailgating at Ole Miss in the grove, but Football is King and acting is on the back-burner. The road to becoming an actor in Mississippi is close to extinct. This may sound ridiculous, but the actual building at my college where theatre classes are offered, is shared with the schools ROTC program. The thought of becoming an actor in Mississippi has become something of a joke and the only way for myself to develop a career is to escape the cultural norms that I have surrounded myself with.…

My entire life I have always wanted to do something where I would be remembered positively by many people. I recall always telling myself I was going to become a backup dancer for a famous singer, become a singer myself, or maybe an actress. Better yet, I thought I could have been all three. As I entered middle school, I realized those goals were too surreal to even become the slightest bit possible, mainly since I am located in an area that most people haven’t even heard of. Back then, I was very uncertain about any career goals I have had.…
