Ptolemy came back and when he discovered Caesar there he marched his army into Alexandria where they would outnumber Caesars thousand or so troops. then the war with Cleopatra would continue, but that’s not what Cleopatra planned. she sneaked away from Pelusium to go to Alexandria where she then had a friend role her up in some carpets and carry her into the palace. When the carpets were given to Caesar they were unrolled and Cleopatra met Caesar. Caesar took Cleopatra's side probably because she was smart and able enough to sneak into the castle and that put the both of them at war with Cleopatra. Caesar sent for reinforcements but they didn't come by the time Ptolemy and his army had reached Alexandria. Caesar's troops held off the invasion on the palace. Caesar was trapped and in his position he made a move that would change the course of history, as well as make him one of the best generals of his time.
