I believe working collectively as a team we can overcome the nursing shortage. I believe dealing with this issue starts off by encouraging nurses to further their educations. There are so many students being turned away from nursing programs because there is a lack of educators to teach them. Because, there is a shortage in nursing instructors encouraging nurses to pursue careers in teaching could help with this shortage. This would allow more students to get accepted into nursing school. Due to the lack of health care facilities for nursing students to complete clinical hours nursing schools can partner up with health care facilities such that may need extra help with care such as the VA or clinics. …show more content…
As a current nursing student I believe I am already working towards filling in that one vacant spot as an RN. I am also planning on furthering my education to receive my BSN and then my masters. Aside from continuing my own education as an RN, I plane to encourage my colleagues to continue their education. For example, I can encourage a CNA to consider going back to school to pursue a career as a RN. Many times individuals feel discouraged from going back to school because they feel it may be too much for them to handle. I could ease their fears by talking positively about my personal experience of continuing my education. Aside from continuing education I believe it is important to be involved in shaping the future of nursing. “This can be achieved by working with national, state, and local professional nursing organizations to develop a common strategic approach to contact government officials to pass legislation and revise current regulations to promote in. dependent practice for APRNs and recognize contributions of nurse generalists in health care delivery.” (Hood, 2014,
