From those thirteen, three guidelines resonated with me including, taking risks when taking a stand for justice, supporting the leadership of people of color, and working with others in the fight against racism, as it is impossible for a person to dismantle racism individually. These three guidelines stood out to me because I believe that it is important to take risks when fighting for social justice, whether as a marginalized group or an ally. This is because the fight for social justice issues is often overwhelming, as sometimes the work may require a lot of confidence from an individual and perseverance when it seems like no change is being made. I also believe that it is important to support the leadership of people of color as I see it as a step to achieving racial equality. As a black student leader at Xavier University, I often feel empowered knowing that other students, including both black and white students, support my leadership. Lastly, I believe that it is important to have a support group when fighting for social justice. This is because it is that support group that will encourage you when you feel like giving up.
