The title of this review is called “American Sniper is almost too dumb to criticize.” The article is written from an author from the “Rolling Stone” magazine company. The author’s name is Matt Taibbi. Most of the articles that he writes are political. Matt begins the article speaking on Clint Eastwood movies in general and the simplicity in it. The format of Clint Eastwood movies is evident in American Sniper, according to Taibbi. He then goes off topic and makes a film comparison with the film, Forrest Gump. It is simply not fair to criticize a movie based on whether the movie involves politics or not. . Matt Taibbi seems to be a political reporter for the Rolling Stone. All of the articles that he has written have been related to politics somehow. This particular article is the most far fetched from politics than any other of his articles, but still relates it back to politics. Matt Taibbi seems to write this article from a political side and not an entertainment side. The movie was not made to challenge the political well being of leaders during that time. It was meant to honor Chris Kyle and his story. Matt seems to want the movie to be just like a Michael Moore film. Matt Taibbi claims that it is dumb to make a fairy tale type movie in the middle of the Iraq occupation of the war. Matt never really explains why it is dumb though and he leaves the reader to decipher the thesis of his claim. It was not up to Chris Kyle to make the decisions the political leaders did. Yes, it was a mistake occupy Iraq during the war. Chris Kyle simply did what he was supposed to do in the war. He went and served four tours of duty in the war. He didn’t have a choice. Politics and the decisions of political leaders should not mean that the movie was bad. Keep in mind, the movie is a human story, not a political story.
