Miles the main character decides to leave his family and attends a boarding school. Miles grows up a lot in his first few months of being at this new boarding school. He begins to smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, fall in love and have sex. Miles loses his childhood purity like that of Adam and Eve at the fall of man. Miles’ banishment from the garden comes in the form of never really knowing the one he loved Alaska. She will continue to remain a mystery to him. He continues to wonder if she loved him back along with always asking ‘what if...’ questions pertaining to his relationship with Alaska. The hero is our Nick Carraway. Nick comes from a the midwest and leaves his family for a chance to become a successful stockbroker in New York (a place to go and the stated reason). While Nick begins to hit it big and investing in books to assist in his goal, he meets with Daisy his cousin and begins to be captivated by the upper class of West and East Egg (dangers along the way). Drama continues to unfold as the relationships of Gatsby, Daisy, Tom and Myrtle begin to get more complex. As the story progresses he no longer cares to be a broker and learns what is really going down in high class society (real reason for going). Nick realizes that when things go bad for the rich they recede into their money like Tom and Daisy do. For Nick he sees that money makes everything better in the eyes of the corrupt rich and their lack of character.
