Throughout the essay Cass kind of focuses his idea around the bases that money might be able to buy possessions that make you happy but the happiness is not real or long lived. It's not necessarily what's at the end of the road it's what we see along the way. Anticipation of something tends to be better than actually getting it. Unless you're God you can't know the future but as a man we can predict it and who doesn't want a happy future? Cass Sunstein says it best when he says in his essay “uncertainty allows people to see the future in the most optimistic light, and it also keeps people’s attention focused on it, which increases its allure.” pg 552.
