Ancient Egypt Technology

Out of the four early civilizations, Egypt was the most civilized and technologically advanced. Without the Egyptians, we wouldn’t have most of the everyday things we have now. They made pyramids that have truly stood the test of time. We don’t even have the technology to mimic the pyramids today! Most of the inventions that the Egyptians made are still used currently. The early Egyptian civilization was created on the Nile river. The Nile made fertile black soil perfect for farming. When the unpredictable rain and flooding came, the Egyptians made irrigations systems to lead the water to the farms. If there wasn’t enough rain and flooding, the irrigation systems came in handy because the stored and distributed water so the crops didn’t dry out. The Egyptians also created the Shadoof. The Egyptians created a version of police. Some punishments for breaking the law include, mutilation, improper burials, and cutting off the nose and ears. An additional thing they created was a calendar with 365 days broken up into 12 months based off lunar cycles. The final advancements the Egyptians made were two types of clocks, an Obleisk and a water clock. An obleisk is a clock that measures the sun’s shadow throughout the day. A water clock is water dripping into a vessel at a constant rate to measure the hours. The Egyptian river valley civilization was the most civilized and technologically advanced based on their mathematical, architectural, and biological discoveries. As well as their use of their natural surroundings to make life in early civilizations as easy as possible.
