Animal Testing Is Inhumane

Animal Testing Over 100 million animals are projected to animal testing each year and are killed in laboratories whether or not the test was a success or a failure. Animal testing includes experiments on mice, rats, cats, dogs, monkeys and much more animal species for cosmetic use. Despite that it might help with new discoveries in science, animal testing is a form of abuse that no animal should have to undergo. Animals are not the only organism that is able to be tested on, many great treatments and discoveries have been tested on organisms other than animals. Animal testing is considered a form of abuse because the animals are neglected, forced into experiments that are harmful, they are tested on without receiving any form of pain relief …show more content…
Animals are forced to eat their food and are forced to undergo more than one experiment. As written in the Eu Statistics on Animal Experiments article, “some animals will be used more than once so the overall total figure is likely to be higher than if just counting animals. For some types of experiments such as blood sampling or pyrogenicity tests, several experiments can be conducted on the same animal within a year” (Taylor and Rego 2). This goes to show that not only are animals forced into this type of life, but they are forced to it more than once in their life. If animals are going to be tested on, even though it is wrong to do in the first place, only do harm to them once and don’t continue to put them under so much …show more content…
For example, many lifesaving cures and treatments have been discovered from experiments on animals, such as dogs that had their pancreases removed then later led to the discovery of insulin which saved lives of people who had diabetes (Animal Testing). In fact, many say that because we are so similar to chimpanzees it is easier to compare results when later used on people. Animals are major contributors to many of the products we use today, but many of the test conducted do not always show the same results when used on people. As said in the Quality of Animal Experiments article, “…animal models can be useful tools in biomedical research, but undoubtedly, it has been observed that the effects of animal models could not be translated to the clinic” (Martic-Kehl 2). Though these animals may seem like they are being taken care of when treated on, that is not the always the case.
There are many reasons why animal testing should be stopped. Testing on animals is inhumane because the animals are neglected all of their life, forced into these harsh experiments, they are not given pain reliever and are, if not always, killed at the end of experiments. Animals shouldn’t have to live in a cage all their life, they have a purpose on this earth just like anything else, and that purpose is not to be poked at with
