A. Folk culture can be defined as culture traditionally practiced by a small, homogeneous, rural group living in relative isolation from other groups.
B. Pop culture can be defined as culture found in a large, heterogeneous society that shares certain habits despite differences in other personal characteristics.
C. The diffusion of folk culture compared to popular culture, is that folk culture is transmitted from one location to another more slowly and on a smaller scale. The spread of folk culture typically follows a process of relocation diffusion (migration of people bringing a cultural trait or cultural complex with them).
D. The diffusion of popular culture, such as popular music, typically follows the process of hierarchical diffusion, diffusing rapidly and extensively from hearths or nodes of innovation. The globalization of pop culture threatens the sustainability of folk cultures because for folk culture, increased connection with popular culture can make it difficult to maintain centuries-old practices.
