In the book Alienated by Melissa Landers has some distinct character archetypes such as Antagonist and the Sidekick are clear. First of all, Cara’s boyfriend was very opposed to Aelyx staying with Cara so he finds a lot of more people to hate Aelyx along with him. “Cara froze and stared blankly across the street at the Midtown High parking lot, where a swarm of demonstrators chanted and pumped their handmade signs into the air: HONK IF YOU SUPPORT HALO! It was like watching an anthill under attack” ( Landers 77 ). This shows how extreme the group of people against Aelyx were, HALO is clearly the antagonist in this book.…

The negative components to this book were present throughout the novel. From the first paragraph I I could tell the writing style would disappoint. The sentence flow was weak and bored me. Reading for long periods of time was difficult due to this. Also, the writing style in general was unintersting.…

I understand that this is a true story but I thought at times she could have altered the story to make it easier to read. Also the font was very small but that doesn’t have to do with her writing just me being picky. That being said those two weaknesses I stated are just me being very sensitive and overly picky.…
Even though there are many archetypes that can relates to all ages people, the well suited archetype that applies to adults and children are the archetypal symbol, Light-Darkness. In Haroun and the Sea of Stories, Haroun was admiring the martial dance and learn about the Beauty of Darkness. During the performances, it states: "Haroun thought about this strange adventure in which he had become involved. ' how many opposites are a war in this battle between Gup and Chup!' He marvelled. '…
I really loved the essay, I was smiling and reading at the same time. Davids mother reminds me of myself when she made the kids go get their candy to share it. She didn't want the Tomkeys to feel bad that Halloween already had gone, so she was being generous. I have the same personality my kid's reaction would have been the same as her kids selfish, mad and annoyed. When I read the essay I was very entertained and loved every minute of it.…
2. Many students today consider themselves to be multidimensional, but media portrayals of high school are full of identity archetypes (e.g. the nerd, the jock, the rebel, etc.). Reflecting on your high school experience, would you say you identify with one of these? If so, why and why do you embrace it? If not, why not?…
In order to fully understand both characters, it’s important to look at their historical originals. One way to do this would be by considering common story archetypes, as discussed heavily by Professor Eiland in his mythical archetype list. The Other Mother fits very many of these archetype, so much so that it would be difficult to rank the accuracy of one over the other. In one way, she acts as the “temptress”, goading Coraline into staying in the other world with outfits, toys, and food, rather than any sort of sexual seduction that’s typical of that particular archetype (Eiland). In some ways the Other Mother resembles the “Wicked Witch” as well, seeing as he ultimate goal is to use her powers to cause Coraline’s demise, but unlike a normal…
Milton Archetypes demonstrate both a constraint for difference beyond objectification as well as a characterized meaning that is devoid of anything beyond surface level appearance; From Milton’s standpoint characterizations are purely derived from physical depictions and what is said and seen about archetypical character of the Lady. The Lady, without a true name or purpose beyond her argument of chastity and virginity, serves as the primary comprehension to how archetypes are often deemed “characterized in the face” (Comus, 526-530). In comparison, the mythological opponent for which she encounters in the play, Comus, ads a keen juxtaposition to the role of sexuality in regards to a characters archetypal mode for which she embodies. Arguing…
For starters, the archetypal theory applies to the children’s story given that Carle uses characterization that expresses his idea on how child development is a long process but the results are significant and beautiful. In the book, Carle uses only one character, the caterpillar, that goes on a journey to discover its own beauty. In the very beginning, Carle writes, “One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and-pop!-out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar”(Eric Carle 2). Carle indicates to the reader that the caterpillar is tiny and very hungry which infers that it is only a baby and needs food in order to survive such as when small, human babies are born who are precious and have their own desires such as food for comfort.…
There are multiple types of archetypes that are present in all forms of literature. In the book, “Of Mice and Men,” by John Steinbeck, he demonstrates each archetype in a different character. There is the hero, the innocent, the wise man, the femme fatale, the outcast, the villain, and the caretaker. Some common characteristics of the Innocent are that they are pure, full of virtue, honest, and full of positive energy. Since they are so innocent and likable, they are often taken advantage of, or are a target.…
Lion King Character Analysis Archetypes have been around for hundreds of years leaving their mark on every story created by mankind, even today archetypes still leave their mark on stories, like the movie The Lion King. In the movie The Lion King, directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, most of the characters presented from the movie fall into the one or more of the seven main character archetypes. From the hero to the trickster, there is no lack of archetypes in the Lion King. For example the characters Scar, Timon and Pumbaa, and Zazu fall into the archetypes, the dark power hungry Shadow figure , the wise Mentor, and the story starting Herald.…
Throughout history, no matter what story or film, there’s always archetypes which applies to characters. Archetypes are repeated personas used in works of film and literature , they help create and maintain the story so that it is interesting and helps define the characters. The movie O Brother, Where Art-Thou is one work of fiction that depicts archetypes well. There are just a few of the existing archetypes portrayed in the movie, but it shows just how diverse the community of archetypes is.…
