The Intergovernmental Panel on climate change measured the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and found that a frightening amount of carbon dioxide was from fossil fuels and that number was increasing. Data states that in the past 650,000 years, the natural carbon dioxide levels did not rise above 300 ppm up until a hundred years ago. Since then the numbers have gone up to over 400 ppm. Some scientists believe that by 2040 450 ppm will be reached, and by the end of the century there will be a five to ten degree Fahrenheit increase in global temperatures ("Is Human Activity Primarily Responsible for Global Climate Change?"). A study gathered that the sun had very little to do with global warming, due to the upper atmosphere was cooling, yet the lower atmosphere was warming. The scientists concluded that if the sun was a major cause of global warming, the upper layer of the atmosphere would also be warming ("Is Human Activity Primarily Responsible for Global Climate …show more content…
Every year since 2000 has been in the top twenty years on record. Another fact is there have been record snow, ice, and record cold temperatures in the past sixteen years. There would not be any of those if greenhouse gases were the problem. The climate would continue to get hotter, and say good-bye to colder temperatures. Humans are producing greenhouse gases, and global warming is happening, but that does not mean the facts are interconnected. Global warming happens, climate changes are natural and the climate will always fluctuate. The carbon dioxide in the air isn’t going to make much of a difference
