Argumentative Essay: The Murder Of Sarah Stern

Improved Essays
For more than 11 hours in near freezing temperatures one Saturday in December, people who loved Sarah Stern spread out across the Jersey Shore, hoping to find the missing 19-year-old.

Scores of people — from close loved ones to strangers — came out to follow up on the search efforts of a half-dozen law enforcement agencies. The crowd joined Stern’s panicked father, who hoped he’d find his only child alive.

Little did Michael Stern know that among those searching were the two men who would be charged in connection to his daughter's killing. On that day, Liam McAtasney and Preston Taylor, both 19, Sarah Sarah's childhood friends, were counted among the concerned crowd.

McAtasney was charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, robbery, disturbing human remains, conspiring with another to disturb human remains and hindering prosecution. Taylor, a friend of McAtasney, was charged with disturbing human remains, conspiring to disturb human remains and hindering prosecution.

"It's just unbelievable,” Michael Stern said. “Unfathomable. Deplorable. Disgusting."

Authorities now believe Sarah Stern was robbed, strangled and thrown off the bridge on Route 35 in Belmar, N.J., which spans the Shark River. Her car had been found unattended at the crest of the bridge Dec. 2, the keys still inside. Her remains haven’t been found, leaving her father unsure of how to proceed with a funeral.

Lizzie Borden killed her parents. Lizzie was the only other person in her house when her mom was murdered, her dad was running errands, her sister out of town and the maid was outside cleaning the windows. The maid said she heard Lizzie laugh around 10:30 as she was upstairs, which isn’t long after the murder took place. Lizzie was found burning one of her dresses and when asked what was on it she said paint which was really blood, she burned a dress with paint on it besides just throwing it away. You could argue that Lizzie didn’t kill her parents but Lizzie wouldn’t of been the only one in the house at the time of the murder, heard laughing upstairs not long after the murder took place and found burning the dress she wore on the day of the…

Who would forgive the person who killed your beloved family member? I wouldn’t do that, but I recently read an article about a 59 year old woman in Minnesota who forgave her son’s killer, Oshea Israel. After that, the woman even invited the killer to live next door as a neighbor. My real life example of mercy is when the woman in the story forgave her son’s killer. This story teaches us that we need forgiveness today because if we fail to forgive, people will have wars and arguments everyday with different people.…
