11 May 2016 How many of you have ever wanted to go to a high school party and have a great time and not get into trouble because of underage drinking. Well, today I?m going to be talking about how we can fix this problem while we have the chance by lowering the drinking age to 18 years old. By lowering the drinking age, the 18 year olds will most likely drink more responsibly, at parties and in resturaunts.. The reason I am here discussing this topic is because I believe that 18 year olds are ready for the privilege to drink and be of age. From 1960 to 2000 there were 135 studies done on traffic accidents, while the drinking age was at 18, and 79 of the 135 studies showed 58% less accidents caused by drinking. …show more content…
If we do this it would also teach our young adults to drink responsibly and not to over drink. Some still think that the drinking age should stay at 21 because the brain doesn?t finish developing until around 25, but places like the Italy, people from Southern France, Portugal, and Spain allow people at 18 to drink and there isn?t any evidence that proves that they have been affected intellectually or behaviorally. …show more content…
Now that you see my purpose and that there are many valid reasons to why 18 to 20 year olds should be allowed to drink. Such as the college administrators wanting to be able to address the drinking at parties more directly, and Alaska?s bill that they are wanting to get passed for the 18 to 20 year olds that are in the military. Now you see that 18 year olds can be responsible enough to drink, why don?t you go out and join in on a petition to help get the bill
