The Crucible Essay Review
The Crucible is a play written by Arthur Miller. The play was written in 1953 an it was based off an drama/fictionalized of the Salem witch trials in Massachusetts during 1692-93. It has a lot to do with witches being around and accusations of a lot of mysterious things that's been going around during the time frame. The protagonist/main character of the book “John Proctor” was an truthful, blunt, and a very loyal man that had an affair with an 16 year old named Abigail. This is part of the reason all of the conflict gather up and came together in the story to make it is what is in the beginning. Once he realizes his mistakes he stopped messing with her and once that happen this lead Abigail to envious feelings towards johns wife. Once she was caught in the woods dancing when she was trying to make John fall in love, she blames one person for being a witch. That person was, Tituba.
During that even these were some of the cause that led up to the “Salem Witch Trials”. When things get out of hand that night in the woods Abigail starts making witches one by one constantly until it spiraled out of control to keep out of the town from thinking it wasn't her. Abigail has not only turned innocent people to witches but she having innocent people go to jail/court when they haven't done anything wrong at all. While this was happening these innocent people were either sentenced for life or hanged or even had to confess. Abigail was one of the main reasons for the Salem witch trials she started it off and it all happened in the woods. The city believed that whoever was in the woods was apart of the devil that night and it changed the whole city forever on how everything works around the town
