Tattoos are becoming more and more popular but with that there are risks that come with it. After reading the article; I would consider not getting a tattoo because, the health risks, Implications of the removal and social problem that goes along with it. Getting a tattoo may be an increasing phenomenon but because its so popular doesn't mean it hasn't have its down sides. I would consider not getting a tattoo because, the health risks. A tattoo normally pierces the skin epidermis into the dermis. Which can cause problems such as 'infections, erythema and skin disorders'. Some type of inks even contain metal fibers like iron oxide, which can bring out a feeling of a skin burning sensation. Many people with tattoos are refused MRIs scans because of them. Doctors Even have a hard time putting in catheter through skin that has been tattooed over. For a person who has been in a hospital before and need catheters, I couldn't imagine what it would be if a doctor told me she is unable to perform their duty if I had tattoos. It states from the article '...being tattooed damage employment or promotional chances with certain employers...'. From personally experience some job applications ask if you have any tattoo. This is a huge problem as it limits what job you can qualify for just with a simple tattoo. You may be treated differently if you have tattoos. You may perceived as a criminal or thug to people who doesn't know you even if the tattoos have personal meaning. Since a lot of criminals have tattoos you could be labeled as one. 'Emotional risk such as hindering relationships with prospective love interests, or being perceived in a negative way by strangers...' stated in the article. Family members that I know have tattooed there ex lover named and asking them about it they regret ever doing it, as it always bring up questions in their future
