Growing up in a Chinese and Vietnamese-dominated area for most of my life and attending schools that follow traditional American culture gives me unique dual perspective of the country I call home. However, being able to immerse myself in a culture different from my own experiences is something I’ve dreamed of doing. While I wish to travel to China and Vietnam to learn more about my own culture, I hope to go to other countries, like Spain or Singapore, to broaden my scope as a global citizen. Studying or interning outside of the United States would be much different from vacationing abroad; rather than having my family dictate what we will be doing and where we will be going, I would have a dual experience of learning in a classroom or at an organization and applying them to the local and global community. With over 200 study abroad programs to choose from as an undergraduate student, UW-Madison is a place I can trust to give me a global education I wish to
