Austen never married, nor had a legacy, at least not one passed to children. Austen’s writing is widely being accepted into schools and universities although they are over two centuries old now. Next, to Shakespeare, Austen is considered to be the greatest author the English language has seen, according to Caroline Kerr Taylor. Taylor has written several educational books, and edited more still, at Creative Teaching Press, Cypress, California. Taylor is currently a freelance author, writing for blogs, magazines, and working on her own books. Not many knew Austen was the author of these pieces on literature, Sense and Sensibility was published with the author’s name replaced by, “By A Lady.” The practice of concealing the author’s name was not uncommon, even among men. Yes the man who wrote, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Innocents Abroad, and Roughing It. Without a doubt, Twain is an extraordinary author. When an author has the imagination of Austen’s level you get amazing books like Pride and Prejudice. In the opinions of Kathleen Flynn, Josh Katz, Claire Harman, Phyllis Wachter, Aiko Yamashiro, Laura Boyle, Harry L. Katz, Elaine Bander, Anne Toner, and James Rovira, Jane Austen is THE greatest author from the last two centuries. Each and every one of the authors mentioned has an impressive reputation, however, not nearly as impressive as Jane Austen’s. Even Wendy Lesser claims one of the main reasons she reads is because of Jane Austen! Without a doubt, Jane Austen IS the greatest author of the past two centuries.
