In one of my own speeches, The Ballot of the Bullet, I discuss the possible outcomes and ongoings in our country. I talked about the Government, and the Dixiecrats and Democrats, and the way they tricked their own citizens to vote for them with unkept promises, not unlike what your “hero” is doing today. “...I'm not anti-Democrat,” I said. “I'm not anti-Republican, I'm not anti-anything. Especially if you were the one being oppressed. These are issues of society as a whole. It impacts us all, and we have to live with it. Because if you think one group of people is more deserving than another, your ideas are prejudiced, and that is the exact same society we are trying NOT to live in. I would like to bring to your attention a quote you said in Civil Disobedience, “Can there not be a government in which majorities do not virtually decide right and wrong, but conscience?- in which majorities decide only those questions to which the rule of expediency is applicable? Must the citizen ever for a moment, or in the least degree, resign his conscience to the legislation?” Mr.Thoreau, If we passed laws solely on conscience, do you honestly think our country would have gotten ANYWHERE in the past 200 years? May I remind you that we still have racists, homophobes, and the like still living in our country. And may I remind you that they make up a much bigger percentage of the population that most would like. In some areas, they are the majority. And by using your “majority versus minority” tactic, they would make the law. They would make an unequal law, for their own benefit. Therefore, they are immora, which I know is something you do not want people to
