Sociology response #6 The conversation with Basim Razzo really made me feel a lot of different emotions and wonder how in the world things like this happen. Speaker- Chris Hedges, a man who finds the differences between each nation's way they teach about wars, and someone who is dedicated to the history of mankind. For example, Hedges writes that, “I went one rainy afternoon to the Imperial War Museum in Vienna… [ and when] I looked for the room dedicated to World War II. There wasn’t one… [because] many Austrians had come to think of themselves as victims of that war.” By saying this, he writes that there was no WWII room because the Austrians didn’t want their future generations to grow up and know that they were victims of a war.…

War is hard to understand by those who have not experienced it. “Yet paradoxically, we are greater removed from the fighting now than we were then.…

Being a licensed snowboard instructor can have its perks; for instance, you get insane deals on all of the gear you could ever possibly need and get free lift tickets, but the most rewarding part of instructing for me is seeing how excited my students get when they finally nail the skill they’d been working so hard to master, whether it be making it down the hill without falling for the first time or landing their first air 360. That exact excitement is what drew me into this sport in the first place, and helping others achieve a sense of accomplishment and build up their riding skills is the best part of the job. Admittedly, it took me a little while to appreciate my students’ strange ways of expressing enthusiasm for learning, and for the…

Jiri G. Ruzicka’s “American Superheroes and the Politics of Good and Evil,” poses the statement, “The United States of America is the promised land for comics” (Ruzicka 46). Comic books have been around for a very long time — almost dating back to the late 1800’s. Many see these books as merely a form of entertainment; however, they are more significant than that. Comics and graphic novels reflect the American societal values of the time through their main characters, the character’s struggles and the character’s adversaries. The fact that comics and graphic novels contain the social ideology of the time and are entertaining, makes them a good learning aid for social studies.…

There are countless different reasons as to why a scientist would use the scientific method, but one area of research that is focused on is, biology. Biologists seek to find the answers to further and better understand the processes that occur in living systems.…
