Becoming A Counselor Application Essay

My purpose is to serve and uplift my community. I think I can best do this by working with children within the school district as a school counselor. I want to help children dream, hope and find their own purpose in life. I am firm in the belief that this is my path.
I think my statement is clear, however I am still exploring the different routes I can take to achieve this goal.
My children motivate me everyday in my journey. I had my son in 2006, and as he approached his school years I knew our system needed to improve. Once I got closer to my goal of becoming a teacher I began working in an elementary school as a paraprofessional. From this experience I knew that I needed to support all students not just my own.
