Is it just in certain industries that employers look at skills rather than degrees? I believe that it may be different for everyone, but it would be interesting to study different businesses and employers and see what they think of this idea. The books “How We Got to Now” and “Becoming a Learner” both have many of the same underlying ideas. In the book “How We Got to Now” many of the people in the book had nothing to lose which led to innovation. Now that our society has grown technologically we can’t stop the innovation and learning.
