Hi Sally, my hospital also enforces mandatory bedside report by all nurses during shift change. I actually enjoy performing bedside report because of several reasons. First of all, I am a visual person so being able to see the patient as they describe how their shift went for me, really helps me understand what had happened and what to anticipate on my shift. Second, if the patient is awake, alert, and oriented, they can be involved during the report by adding on anything they felt the nurse missed or answer any questions I ask them during the report.
