The different genres produced a variety of emotions for people. People gravitate towards types of music and this can show their personal identities. Managing our emotions can be a stressful situation and people turn to music to cope with this. In a study conducted in 2011 , participants were told they did not succeed at doing a task and those were the people that played positive music afterwards (Ziv et al. 2011). No one likes to be told they are not good enough or they have failed, but positive music stimulates the brain and brings a positive energy back to the listener. A students vocabulary is enhanced when they participate in the creation of music. When music is encouraged in the school systems, students are able to express themselves and strengthen their vocabulary. The National Association for Music Education has a list of twenty important benefits of music in the education system. One being, “Students who have experience with music performance or appreciation score higher on the SAT. One report indicates 63 points higher on verbal and 44 points higher on math for students in music appreciation courses” (NAfME). Not only does music education increase the stamina in other classes, it also increases self-confidence and helps develop better communication skills
