Discrimination is a huge issue in America and it has affected everyone from different ethnicities and religions. Everyone has been targeted with racist slurs and false stereotypes. However, ever since September 11, 2001, people's perspective on Muslims in the U.S. has changed from a positive view of Muslims and Islam to a negative and hatred-filled view. Now many American citizens only think of Islam as a religion full of hate and Muslims being people represented by violence. As a result of the increasing religious discrimination towards Muslims in the U.S., it has caused a negative impact on the society and the people. For many years, Muslims have been mistreated and harassed by fellow citizens in the U.S and it seems as if the incidents are not diminishing. In the U.S, Islam has always been portrayed as a religion of violence and terrorism. As a result from these stereotypes and misconceptions, many people begin to create violence. These violence incidents include the burnings of Mosques, rallies, etc, and these violent incidents are happening daily across the nation and there is no sign of decline. When people begin to do such acts, other people begin to join and become violent as well. As a result, many Muslims have begun to fight back and create more violence. Violence from both parties is increasing and it is only damaging the society and the positivity amongst both the people. Americans and other minorities must realize that these misconceptions and stereotypes are false about Muslims and Islam.
