Blaine Drive Narrative

On 12/27/16, at 7:28pm, I Deputy Warden N. Christian was dispatched to 1492 Blaine Drive on a dog running loose, no known owner. I arrived at the location and exited my vehicle. A male subject from across the street approached me and stated the dog lives at 1494 Blaine Drive. The male subject stated that the dog owner is currently homeless and the house has change ownership. While talking to the male subject I saw a brown and white pit bull running loose in the general area of 1492 and 1494 Blaine Drive. The pit bull ran from the front of 1494 Blaine Drive to the back yard of that location. I competed talking to the male subject and enter the backyard. Mr. Banks stated that the dog was in his backyard and running around his house. Mr. Banks stated that earlier in the day the dog prevented his wife from exiting her vehicle when she came home. I completed talking to Mr. Banks. Dispatcher Deputy Warden W. Jones stated that he had found dog owner Shawn Wright information and would contact him in regards to the situation. Deputy Warden W. Jones made contact with Mr. Wright who stated that he was approximately 30 minutes away and that his roommate should be home. I knocked on the door to 1494 Blaine Drive and received no answer. At this time Deputy Warden D. Mann and C. Lawhorn arrived on scene. We enter the backyard, where we were able to capture the dog and put the dog in my van. As we were waiting for Mr. Wright to arrive, Deputy Warden D. Mann was approached by Holly Jones claiming ownership of the dog. We contacted Mr. Wright to determine if the dog could be released to Ms. Jones. Mr. Wright granted permission for Ms. Jones to take responsibility for the dog. I explained the situation to Ms. Jones and stated that there will be violations in regards to the dog running loose. Ms. Jones stated that she understood and would be taken the violations for the dog. I asked for Ms. Jones identification, she complied. Ms. Jones was unable to show proof that the dog had a current dog license. I issued Ms. Jones
