“Consumers are wasting billions of dollars a year on billions of gallons of bottled water in large part because advertising spin has led them to believe that water in a bottle is safer or better than tap water” (“Why Tap Water Is Best”). Tap water against bottled water is a tremendous feud today in our environment. An ongoing argument is occurring between which one helps your environment, pocketbook, or health. A more variety of studies shows that tap water is better than bottled water. To begin with, if more people chose tap water before bottled water, they would be helping the economy out to a great extent. “Bottled water is a drain on the environment: The U.S. public goes through about 50 billion water bottles a year, and most of those plastic containers are not recycled” (Karlstrom). It takes just the same amount of time to fill up a portable cup or bottle from your house than it does to go into the store to buy a bottle water. There have been experiments on tasting of bottled and tap water. In an English class, the class had three different cups of water, one was a generic bottle of water, one was Dasani bottle of water, and one was tap water. They all wrote down which cups they though were the bottled waters or the tap water. At the end the teacher tallied up who thought cup number one was generic, Dasani, or tap water and so on. At the end of all the tallies it came to show that only a few people could tell the difference of the tastes. So test show that more likely there is not a difference in taste.
In conclusion, studies have shown that tap water is better than bottled water. Tap water does not involve plastic so it is economy safe.
