California State University Student Observation

As an ethnographer today’s task will be to observe a diversity of students at the California State University Long Beach. I have gathered my computer as well as a lunch to company me while I observe my surrounding and how students’ interaction and behave at the university. I chose to have a seat outside the student union on a round table by the door where Wells Fargo bank, and Sbarro pizza is located. My surroundings have many round tables where students can seat as well as couches to enjoy a nap. There is a long way up of stairs to go up the dining plaza. I have chosen this place to do my observation because it is outdoors where the wind can grasp across your face and the shining sun brightening your surroundings. This place is a peaceful environment where students can do their school work as well as enjoy their lunch. Most of the students seating on the round tables had a seat by themselves, but there were a few tables with a group of students. The majority where having their lunch that they bought on campus from food courts located near by. While the students ate they were multitasking having their phones on the other hand contencilly checking on it. While others were doing school work on their computers or just relaxing for the day. All individuals are different from values and norms to behavior because they were taught a very young age by their parents how to behavior in certain areas. Different factors contribute to how individuals behave due to who and what is surrounding them.
