Decent Essays
I do not know if you were aware that I was going through the hiring process with LASD as well as LBPD. The case is that LASD has picked me up and gave me a start day for the 29th of this month. I had previously discussed with my backgrounds investigator that I would go with the department who gave me a start day first. Since I have a start day with LASD I will be going with them. I appreciate the departments interest in me and would have loved to work for the city of long beach. I sincerely thank the department for everything.

I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Paul Schultz as Chief of Police of the Canon City Police Department for the past four years. During this time, Chief Schultz has done an outstanding job. He was hired as a change agent after the City’s police department fell into a state of disarray. Upon his hire, he was given many goals, all of which intended to make the Cañon City Police Department not only one of the best departments in the state but also one that is in alignment with the community values.…

For my short paper interview with a police officer, I decided that I wanted to focus on the field training program of a major city with a large, diverse community, so I reached out to the Boston Police Department (BPD). My reason for this was due to the civil strife we saw in Baltimore several weeks ago. Both Baltimore and Boston are similar in population and the size of their departments. In Baltimore, it appears that poor field training may have led to systematic failures and was responsible for the incident involving Freddie Gray. For this research, I was able to get in touch with Kelley O'Connell of the Boston Police Department.…

Ride Along During and after my experience, I realized how similar and accurate the material learned in class was to what police officer experience in a typical day. I was able to participate in the Fullerton police ride along program, on April 8th from 10am-6pm, under Officer Lopez’s shift. Before arriving for the scheduled ride along, one needs to submit a waiver form. The form was not available online or the community service bureau not opened 24 hours, this created a delay in setting up the ride along.…

The demand for police officers, as reported by the U.S. Labor Statistics, is expected to increase by seven percent. This increase is due to the demand of having police officers risk their lives in the front lines against the battle of crime. Police are needed to maintain peace, prevent and investigate crime, reach out to the community, and protect the people they represent. A law enforcement officer must be able to accomplish all of this goals and still contribute to society. To experience the same contribution law enforcement officers provide to the El Paso community on a daily basis, I had decide to volunteer my time in the Boys and Girls Club of El Paso.…

I believe all applicants that have used any illegal narcotics, or sold any illegal drugs should be automatically disqualified from gaining employment as law enforcement. No one that wants to be superior to others or authority should do anything illegal. If they have committed any type of crime they shouldn’t be granted the privilege of arresting or restraining other criminals, who could have potentially been their parent in crime and/or drug use. They shouldn’t be trusted, they could easily take drugs or money into their possession and use it for unlawful reasons. Anyone in the law enforcement career field should lead by example, and be someone with self-control.…
