Mercy spirituality was created in Ireland in 1831 and based upon the life of Catherine McAuley. The purpose of forming the Mercy spirituality center was to use her resources to aid the issues of global poverty worldwide. This was achieved by having people displaced across the world. Having her experience of pain and poverty she used this to deepen her knowledge of how she could assist the global issue of poverty. It all started in 1827 when Catherine opened up the House of Mercy on the boundary of the rich and the poor. These actions reflected on her beliefs to address poverty in Ireland however it didn’t stay in Ireland for long. Shortly after the Mercy mission spread throughout the world. Mercies, are mostly very sensitive people and are drawn to other sensitive people. They like to respond to the emotional needs and wants of other people. Mercies believe in the fact that the less marginalised and rich people should be treated the same and to have the same rights, everyone should be equal. They believe that it is their responsibility to help out with all the sufferings from across the world. Mercies don’t like to hide their emotions. They like to share their knowledge and experience with other emotional and sensitive people across the world.
