Charles Richard Drew and Marie Curie grew up in two different countries during two completely different eras, but they sometimes faced the same challenges. Marie Curie, born Maria Sklodowska on November 7 1867 in Warsaw, Poland. Charles Richard Drew was born on June 3, 1904 in Washington, D.C. Curie’s parents were both teachers while Drew’s father was a carpet layer. Although Curie’s parents were both teachers, her family would still have financial struggles; something Drew’s family was very familiar with. Many years later both Marie Curie and Charles Richard Drew would go on to marry and start families of their own. Both scientists had love and support from their families, however, Marie had more of a hands-on support from her husband Pierre Curie. “Marie and Pierre Curie were dedicated scientists and completely devoted to one another.
