For example, the government can “improve access to education and help dry up the supply of child labourers [by addressing] the issue of poverty and rising school fees” (“Child Labour”). Because education is harder to obtain in the countryside, parents who cannot afford or access schools send their children to work instead to help make money for the family. Improving access to education would allow the children to go to school instead of work at a job, and this will reduce child labor rates and increase the number of educated people. However, the government is loath to invest money in education in rural areas. Another way to reduce the prevalence of child labor in China is to strictly enforce the existing laws against child labor. However, this will still be difficult because many child labor rings and companies manage to hide their law violations well. Some companies “have become adept at evading [scrutiny] by providing fake wage and work schedule data that suggest they abide by labor laws” (Barboza 2). If the authorities, inspectors, and government continue to be fooled by the companies that use child labor, then the child labor situation will never be fixed anytime soon, not even with increased enforcement of the
