Chile is positioned in the western and southern hemispheres. On the southwestern coast of South America, and bordered by Argentina, Bolivia and Peru and by the Pacific Ocean. Peru on the Northern border, Argentina bordering all of east Chile, and Bolivia in the NE.
The Andes Mountains is among the world's longest mountain ranges, spreading across Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile. The Chilean Coastal Range is a mountain range that runs from north to south along the Pacific coast of South America

The Atacama Desert is a plateau and a desert west of the Andes in the north part of the country. It is also located in a rain shadow.

Chile’s government is a presidential republic with three branches of government, the Executive branch, the Legislative branch, and the Judicial branch.
Executive 1st President Michelle Bachelet Jeria (since March 11 2014) is chief of state and head of government. The cabinet is appointed by the president. The president is elected by the major popular vote in two rounds for a 4 year term. The last election was on November 17, 2013. The next election will be held on November 19, 2017. Though the president is not eligible for re election immediately.
Legislative 2nd The bicameral National Congress consists of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. The Senate has 38 seats members are elected directly elected in multi-seat constituencies by majority vote. Then they serve for 8 year terms and one-half membership renewed every 4 years. The Chamber of Deputies has 120 seats. Members directly elected in multi-seat constituencies by majority vote to serve 4 year terms. The last time elections were held for both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate was on November 17,
