When it comes to my culture I think that it is a mixture of both individualistic and collective. I am Hispanic background and growing up my parents encourage independence and push us to become assets to society. As a result that would but a emphasis on ourselves and our immediate family. But I think that as a people of a community of Latinos it would be more collectivistic. I think that there is a lot of influence that solidarity that developed within communities. For example I work in retail and when I encounter Spanish speaking customers there is connection. I may have never met this person but the language connects us. Now when it comes to social media in my opinion one wakes a fine line. I have seen that I can be every easy to offend someone, because an individual has a different opinion on a matter. The single story creates stereotypes that become harmful to others. I remember reading as a child stories on Columbus finding America and all of his great accomplishments. But as you grow up and state learning for you selves his accomplishment might not be all that great. For example when the island of Puerto Rico was found they were said to be savages covered in scares but them he later rights he had never found kinder people. As a child you learn the he befriended them when the actual truth is was that he killed them. The native Indians were afraid of them and thought that they were immortal until the successfully kill one of their solders. The one side story can ruin the image of another. And can take an opportunity from another. I believe that no matter what they is always more than one story. It is up to us to look for the other side of
