The Chinstrap Penguin can be found in many places including Antarctica, the South Sandwich Islands, South Shetland, the South Orkneys, Bouvet Island, South Georgia, Balleny, and Peter Island. There are 12 to 13 million of them just on the Barren Islands, added to all of the other places, Chinstrap penguins have the most of all the types of penguins. Chinstrap penguins live on icebergs, and dive into the icy water for fish and krill. Chinstrap penguins have a few nicknames like “Stonecracker Penguins”, “Bearded Penguins”, and “Ringed Penguins”. Stonecracker is because of the sound they make. These penguins are about 28 inches tall and weigh 9 to 14 pounds. Chinstrap penguins eat small fish, krill which are tiny shrimp, and other marine crustaceans.
