In many countries around the world today, men believe that they are more dominant than women. Like in Ancient Rome times when the paterfamilias or the male head of the household was dominant over a woman. However, many men are different, for example, a lot of men around the nation are respectful to women. Another issue around the world are homeless and back in medieval times, knights were supposed to protect and help out the weak or the homeless. Today, many people don’t help them out and it is just something really easy like giving them food that you will throw away or some change that you will not use. Two weekends ago when I was down in Madison, WI I realized chivalry was still alive. My friend and peer, Tony Gutierrez handed a homeless man a five dollar bill, this man was looking for some money so he could buy a meal. This little act probably made this homeless man’s day. Tony’s compassion towards this man who was in need of help shows that chivalry is still alive, however; rare. These Americans weren’t taught chivalry or too selfish to help another American. Therefore, it is creating many American citizens to think chivalry is dead. This thought is wrong because chivalry is still used, but not as often like it was in medieval times. The meaning of the word “chivalry” has also changed from the eleventh century. Today, chivalry is thought of as being polite and courteous. Back in medieval times, chivalry was the knight’s code. This code had rules on fighting in battle but, also the rules applied off the battlefield like respecting their lords and women. Lastly, chivalry is definitely not as strong as it was in the eleventh century, however; it is still seen throughout the United
