At first, Daniel believes that the whole human race should be exterminated due to their brutal acts. However, Erika convinces him that with love, you can overcome difficult obstacles, make positive choices, and live like God. One of the main reasons you should always choose love is because it will help conquer arduous obstacles. When Daniel’s grandmother Miriam died in chapter three, she left a note explaining everything. Besides, even if you die attempting to change others, you will know that you tried - That’s better than living a longer life with hatred. Adam, a boy from Lodz died while trying to avenge his sister. Adam knew that he would die avenging his sister, but he also knew he’s lived a life trying to make things better for fellow Jews. Adam was happy with what he accomplished and was okay with his final decision. Another example of someone who attempted to make things better, but died trying was Daniel’s aunt - Aunt Leah. She was a very brave woman. Unfortunately, in chapter five she passed away while trying to protect her children. Aunt Leah wouldn’t let her children leave without her even if it meant taking her own life. At Least, she died knowing she stopped her children from suffering a much more painful death unlike some others. Lastly, Erika, the bravest most eloquent of all, persisted in making the world a better place. Sadly, she died in the process. Even though she passed away, her remaining family will remember her for these good and loving actions, and that’s the best way to be

Revered as the culmination of all his work, C.S. Lewis’ Till We Have Faces is the recipient of scholars’ praise and the author’s favoritism. Scholars praise Lewis for his ability to transform a narrow classical myth into a universally applicable story. While this universality owes itself to the fictitious nature of the novel, it is also rooted in the theme of love. In order to fully elucidate the concept of love as he understood it, Lewis published The Four Loves. He first distinguishes between two base forms of love: need-love and gift-love.…

After being revealed as a Jewish, he could not take it anymore and had decided to commit suicide. This in a way proves the five stages of acceptance: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. The yearn of affection, reassurance, or even feeling wanted is humane and drives people to explore the different emotions it may cause. Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird, in an interview, described the acclaimed novel as a “simple love story.” Initially, I had strongly disagreed with this statement, because I presumed Harper Lee was referring to a romantic love. However, I shortly realized that Harper Lee was referring to a different type of love. What Harper Lee refers to is not the traditional romantic love typically associated with novels, but more of a selfless, benevolent love. This unconditional, self-sacrificing love is known as agape.…

Love is often seen as the cause to many positive things, but when it is misunderstood, it can become a destructive force. In Toni Morrison’s novel, Song of Solomon, the love between characters is the powerful source of many of the deaths in the story. The book follows the maturation of a boy nicknamed Milkman Dead who is born from a loveless marriage into “a really strange bunch” (76). He is surrounded by many people driven by this powerful feeling: a friend who kills in the name of love, Hagar -- his cousin’s -- drive to murder him if he doesn’t love her, and the love his aunts feel for Hagar that prevents them from helping her. The characters’ misunderstanding of love causes them to blur the line of demarcation between love and destruction.…

Love, according to Webster, is “a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties.”. For some, this definition of love expresses the way people develop a mutual understanding of one another to attain a level many are unable to reach. Others may believe love can happen by the chance of a glimpse and bind them together by that unknown force without any preceding knowledge of the person. In The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, the “Knight's Tale” shows that love is greater than any other power. Chaucer composed the tale to convey the idea that love brings about unforeseen outcomes.…
