Christianity and Mormonism share several similarities but there are also many differences that separate the two religions. The origins of the religion, morality, worldview, view on afterlife, and purpose of the religion are things that are important to consider when comparing the two. Christians believe that mankind was created by the one and only sovereign God. The Christian worldview maintains the idea that God created the world and everything in it over the course of six days. On that sixth day God created Adam and then Eve using one of Adam’s ribs. Mormons believe that all of mankind was created through the image of God. They also believe that the Heavenly Father created them as spirits before the earth which would make them His children. …show more content…
The leader of the church is a president but the Mormons call him a prophet. Mormons believe that God guides the prophet which is what he would have done for Joseph Smith and also for the prophets talked about in the bible. Mormons follow the teachings found within the Christian “Bible”, “The Book of Mormon,” and “Doctrine and Covenants”. Some of the basic Mormon beliefs are that they must spend quality time with their families and that they must not drink alcohol, coffee or tea. Mormons meet on Sunday for church where they listen to sermons. In addition to this, they have Sunday School to learn more about their religion. Mormons also believe it is important to help the poor and needy people all over the world, have a strong work ethic and promote education. Christian’s belief system is a set of moral guidelines based on all the teachings of the Bible, but the teaching of Jesus is the most important. The most important thing to know as a Christian is that He has given us an immortal soul. As a Christian, God has given us free will to seek good and bad things. With this we are affected by the Original Sin which inclines us to sin. Christians should always remember that Christ’s dying and rising provides us the opportunity to have new life in the Spirit. As Christians, we follow the ten commandments which are moral principles of Christianity. The Bible teaches Christians to have a closer relationship with God, teaches us …show more content…
By the early twenty-first century there were more than 11 million members. Most Mormons live in the United States but the rest live in Latin America, Canada, Europe, and Africa. Mormons tend to think that The Book of Mormon is more correct than any other book on earth. Mormon’s worldview includes that God used to be a man on another planet and good works are necessary for salvation. One of the main differences between the beliefs of Mormonism and Christianity is that Mormons believe that Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are three separate individuals but Christians say that there is only one God in three different people. Christianity was established out of Judaism and founded on the life, teaching, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christianity has three main branches, Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy and Protestantism. Christian’s view towards Mormonism is that The Book of Mormon does not agree with the Bible and more likely contradicts it. Also the Bible teaches that He is a Spirit instead of a man from another planet. Finally, Christians are saved by faith alone instead of the idea of having good works for

Mormon historian Todd Compton, who has written a book on Joseph Smith's polygamy, says there's good evidence Smith married at least 33 women by the time he was murdered by a mob in 1844. The church officially discontinued the practice of polygamy in 1890, though another article on the church website acknowledges that it continued as something of an open secret for some time after that. Today, Mormons who affiliate with offshoot groups that still practice polygamy risk excommunication. Some Mormons argue the doctrine of polygamy Smith avowed is still part of Latter-day Saint teaching.…

Some Mormonism denominational and theological biases which are evident in Robinson’s debate were found mainly, in my opinion, in the doctrine of salvation. Robinson stated, that apart from Mormons faith I Christ what is more important for them to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and be saved, than stating that they are not going to be saved based on their theological “error” in believing in the Book of Mormon. Thus, then concluding that perhaps Christians are saved by the grace of Christ or by “proper” theology. This statement is both biased and confusion.…
