Christopher Columbus, the child of a fleece trader, was born in Genoa around 1451. When he was still a teenager, he landed a position on a dealer boat. He stayed adrift until 1470, when French privateers assaulted his boat as it cruised north along the Portuguese coast. The course was long and challenging, and experiences with threatening armed forces were hard to evade. Portuguese traveler’s tackled this issue by sailing the seas: They cruised south along the West African coast and around the Cape of Good Trust. Columbus had an alternate thought: Why not cruise west over the Atlantic rather than around the vast African cost? The youthful pilot's logic was efficient , yet his calculation’s were wrong.Columbus wanted fame and fortune,Ferdinand and Isabella needed the same, as they also wanted to spread Catholicism worldwide. Columbus' agreement with the Spanish rulers guaranteed that he could keep 10 percent of whatever wealth he found, alongside a respectable title and the governorship of any lands he should encounter. On August 3rd, 1492, Columbus and his team set sail from Spain in three ships: the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Clause Maria. On October 12th, the boats made landfall-not in Asia, as Columbus expected, but rather on one of the Bahamian islands. For a considerable length of time, Columbus cruised from island to island in what we now know as the Caribbean.he searched for the "Pearls, valuable stones, gold, silver, spices, and different objects and merchandise whatsoever”, that he had guaranteed to his Spanish supporters, yet he didn't discover
