The Civil Rights Movement was more effective. Based on history the Civil Rights Movement was a time during the 1950’s and 60’s to rid the world of segregation and gain equal rights for African Americans. If you look back to the events and dynamic and powerful figures it produced, you could see this as one of the most important times in the U.S. history. If you are to fully understand and comprehend the Civil Rights Movement, you have to go back to the very beginning and its start. Many people believe that it began with Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks did propel the Civil Rights Movement to unprecedented heights, but the start of the movement began in 1954 with the case of “Brown vs. Board of Education of Topeka. This case was the cornerstone for change in American History as a whole. This meant that the protestors would violate laws and traditions which were racist and discriminatory, but they would never resist any action by the police or government. This in fact led to young peaceful African Americans being sprayed with water hoses, and punished as they just simply walked in a peaceful protest. It also led to sit-ins at establishments that practiced segregation, or at the colleges where African Americans were unable to enroll due to the color of their skin.
