I believed transitioning into high school would be easy and nothing would change. I was wrong. Suddenly practices got longer and games got later at night and homework started to pile up and I was swallowed in stress and worry. Transitioning onto a varsity team from a middle school team was hard. I was the “Big Dog” on the Junior high team and it was like being thrown into a pool full of sharks when I walked out onto the varsity field thinking I was the “Big Dog” and they chewed me up and spit me back out. Truth be told, I was not a starting player. Throughout the season I showed up to every single practice, every single game, and no matter what was happening through my life softball came first. It became my obsession to get on the varsity team, to become that star player once again. I dedicated every single minute of my life to softball and in result of that my grades began to suffer. When my junior year came around I finally started to see how my obsession was ruining my life. College was always my goal and playing softball was not going to get me there, however; my grades
