After around eight hours of driving my family and I arrive at this monstrously gigantic house which sits on four properties worth of land. A cobblestone path directs us to the white house with shades of gray bordered by vivid green plants. Once I exit and place myself on the path, I immediately recall moments from my childhood that shaped who I am today. The instant you walk in through the front door, to the right, there lies a 10 foot perimeter rectangle. An old wooden rectangle with dark, dim lighting, smells like death. Regardless, right there is where my family decides to put the annual Christmas tree. In that tiny corner, is where one of my main personality traits, patience, originated. On the twenty third of December, my cousins and I all have the option to receive what we call an early-bird. If we accept, we are allowed to open one present ahead of time. However, my grandmother claimed “When you have patience, the gift will become so much greater.” I waited. Coincidentally, it was the best present I have received to date. However, I was 7, coincidence had no effect on me, everything happens for a reason to a seven …show more content…

My family was struggling to get the TV to work and my dad admitted “Boys, the Saints are down 14 to 3.” That killed me. My favorite team was about to lose and be eliminated for the season. I sprinted upstairs to pray. I fell to my knees and I begged God to make a TV from 500 B.C. to work. Thankfully, once I came downstairs, God came with me. That rust bucket turned on. To our pleasure, we won the game and advanced to the Super Bowl. We won that as well. Afterwards, I understood that once you put God in front, true miracles can happen, even if the miracle revolves around

I really hated waking up in the morning. It was always bright and sunny and I wasn’t allowed to get a snowcone because Crum would get mad at me. The bathroom was like a mile away (unless you wanted to use Nasty Porta Potties) , and as soon as I would get to the park I would realize I had forgot something at home. The worst part was that when we went in the middle for the coin toss coach made us hold hands, Do you how many times a receiver spits on his gloves. If I didn’t like football as much as I did I wouldn’t have even woke up till noon.…

My college search has brought me to many universities: visiting campuses, and talking to students, alumni, and faculty. While I could receive an excellent education from any of these schools, Notre Dame offers something "more. " I first noticed this something "more" through a contact I made with Kyle Cowdrick, ND class of 2015, who I have been emailing back and forth with over the last year about admissions, Notre Dame, and the college experience. I once asked him why he bothered to use his precious time to mentor me, someone he barely knew before, his answer: "It's the Irish way".…

As everything started to get brighter and louder my heart started to race more and more it was like I was going into another dimension. When we finally bust through that wall of light I tried to find my favorite player “Tom Brady” but I couldn’t, I guess because my eyes were still adjusting to the bright lights when they did, I spotted him over on the sideline warming up throwing the ball back and forth with one of the wide receivers. When the game started the crowd started to go wild because it was a classic rivalry between the Patriots and the Giants. Towards the end of the first quarter, Brady gets hit pretty…

I have played football since I was six years old. Football is associated with violence for some, but I look at it as a lesson. Some of the most valuable life lessons that I know and use came from football: from taking pride in what you do to always having room for improvement no matter how good you are. The biggest life lesson that has always stuck with me is overcoming adversity. Out of all my years of playing football, we have never gone undefeated, and I have always faced the adversity of being down in games.…

For as long as I can remember, movies and television have been my escape. No matter what was going on in my life, I could always get lost in the fantastical adventures of Star Wars or even the mundane happenings in The Office. With each new story that I consumed, my mind created five more. For me, writing just started out as a way for me to clear all of these thought-tangents out of my head. I would keep random journals everywhere and just jot down whatever came to me throughout the day.…

In a society where celebrities are the star of the show and people care more about the number of likes they have on social media than showing the people they love how much they care about them, it is easy for anyone to forget the impact they have on our society. Every person was put on this planet for a reason bigger than we can imagine, but it is our job to put in the hard work and effort to make the most of ourselves. I constantly hear people making remarks like, ¨how am I going to make a difference, I´m just one person¨ or ¨I wouldn't make a difference,¨ but that is where they are wrong. If it weren't for each and every little drop of water that makes up our immense ocean, what would be left? Our planet would not be able to thrive without the water.…
