The researcher took 695 Canadian participants who were between the age group of 0-18+ years.
The purpose of this research is to determine symptoms of psychopathology framework of bullies and the victims. The researcher states that bullying happens for two reasons. First, bullies and victims meaning victims turn into bullies. Second, bullies turn into greater bullies so they can seek revenge on their fellow bullies. As a result of mental distress, the bullies and the victims showed anxiety, depression, and hyperactivity symptoms. The research found that many children who displayed these symptoms had problem with attention. The interesting fact is that, the parents, and the children both displayed similar symptoms because of bullying.
In conclusion, bullying effects both the bullies and their victims with psychopathology symptoms. Parents and children are both effected by bullying. Empirical evidence suggests that it is best to begin helping children from preschool age so they will have strategies to attack bullying.
