Orwell paints picture in your head throughout this book using his descriptive writing. He makes you feel as if you are reading about an event that is currently happening and is making headlines in the news. I think what he is trying to get across from this book is his idea that communism is a way of life that can work, just as long as the people in this position all know what they’re doing and aren’t just following blindly. Obviously Orwell thinks very negatively towards the way Josef Stalin ran Russia back during his time as leader. He is strongly against Totalitarianism, which is probably his main reason for writing this book and I believe it this thought of his fuels a lot of his writing in Animal Farm. That being said, this can also negatively affect his writing from some perspectives. Since his writing is coming from his political opinion, which is now political history, not everybody will understand everything related to Josef Stalin and his government. You would need to have prior knowledge if you wanted to read Animal Farm and analyze it as I am doing now. For me in class we went through a slideshow showing how characters and events related to those of the Russian revolution. This worked extremely well for me and I feel I would not have been able to read as deeply into Animal Farm without it. As I am saying this, it is my proof that you would need to know as least a little bit about what the story is satirizing to get as much as you can out of reading the
